From Adriano Ribeiro and Luís Mendonça, the duo behind Jose Gourmet, Ati Manel is named after Luis’ great-grandfather, a creative visionary of his day who owned a storied canning company in the mid-20th century. When Luís discovered a dust-covered trove of relics from that business, long-forgotten in a family basement, he was inspired to resurrect the genius of an ancestor he never got to meet. Their suite of carefully crafted products, sourced from throughout Portugal and Galicia, boasts some of the most elegant canned fish, seafood, and pates one can buy.
The name Berthe carries a rich legacy. Over a century ago, it was already known in Setúbal, where cycling boys would eagerly report the arrival of fishing boats loaded with fresh sardines from the open water. A great deal has changed since then—technology has advanced, and the world has evolved—but Berthe continues to shine. In Portugal, fishing isn't just a profession; it's a way of life. This deep-rooted connection to the sea is what gives Berthe products their unique quality and authenticity.
